Check whether you can get an AIO supplement

If you have not built up any AOW pension or you only get a partial AOW pension, you can get an AIO supplement if you:

  • have reached your AOW pension age
  • live in the Netherlands
  • have little or no other income
  • do not have more than a certain amount in assets

If you get the full AOW pension amount and you have a partner, you may still be able to get an AIO supplement if:

  • your partner has not started receiving an AOW pension yet
  • you and your partner have little or no income besides your AOW pension
  • you and your partner do not have more than a certain amount in assets

Two months before you reach your AOW pension age, you can check whether it is worthwhile applying for AIO supplement by filling in the questions on the page ‘Check whether you can get an AIO supplement’.

Once you have completed this check, you will see whether you can get an AIO supplement. If so, you can download the application form straight away and fill it in.
