Your living situation
The bridging benefit (OBR) you get depends on your living situation. Someone who lives alone does not get the same as someone who is married or sharing a household with another adult.
Your living situation changes
If you get married or start living with someone, you will get bridging benefit at the rate for a person sharing a household with another adult. If you and your partner separate and you start living alone, you will get the amount for a person living alone.
It can be difficult to establish what your living situation is. If, for example, you share a house with 2 or more people, the amount of your bridging benefit will depend on various factors. The rules are the same as for the AOW old-age pension.
If your situation changes, you must let us know within 4 weeks. That way, you will receive the correct amount and avoid problems.
