Your domestic situation
How much bridging benefit (OBR) you can get depends on your domestic situation. Someone who lives alone does not get the same as someone who is married or sharing a household with another adult.
If your domestic situation changes
If you get married or start living with someone, you will receive your bridging benefit at the rate for a person who is sharing a household with another adult. If you and your partner separate or you start living on your own, you will receive the amount for a person living alone.
Sometimes it is difficult to establish what the domestic situation is. For example, if you share a house with 2 or more people, the amount of bridging benefit you can get will depend on a number of things. The rules here are the same as for the AOW old age pension.
If your situation changes, you must let us know within 4 weeks. You will then receive the correct amount and avoid any problems.
