-
Step 1: Submit your application
You can do this quickly and easily in My SVB. If you prefer to use a paper form, fill in the form and send it to us by post. It is not possible to apply for an A1 certificate by email.
Enclose documentary evidence. This will help us to process your application more quickly.
-
Step 2: We determine whether you can remain insured in the Netherlands.
Whether you will remain covered under the Dutch national insurance schemes will depend on the country where you are going to work.
It can take between 6 and 8 weeks for us to finish processing your application.
If we need more information from you, we will send you a letter. In that case, it may take longer than 8 weeks before we can send you a decision.
-
Step 3: We send you our decision
If you have a Message Box (Berichtenbox), we will send our decision to you digitally. If you do not have a Message Box, we will send our decision by post.
An A1 certificate will only be issued once. It is therefore important to keep it safe.
After a few days, the decision will also be visible in My SVB.

Priority applications
If you have not yet received an A1 certificate and cannot start work as a result, the inspectorates in most countries will also accept a copy of your application for an A1 certificate.
If a copy is not accepted, please contact us and we will see whether we can prioritise your application.
