Our decision and a fine from the CAK

What does the decision say?

1. If the decision states that you are insured under the Wlz scheme

   This means you must take out basic health insurance (basisverzekering) with a Dutch health insurer as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. If you are insured under the Wlz scheme, you must take out Dutch insurance even if you already have international health insurance or health insurance in another country. 

   If you have already received a fine from the CAK, and you do not agree with it, you can submit an objection or a request for review to the CAK.

2. If the decision states that you are not insured under the Wlz scheme

   You do not have to do anything. You do not have to take out Dutch health insurance. Your non-Dutch or international insurance is enough. 

   If you received a fine from the CAK before our decision, you can ask the CAK to cancel the fine. That means you do not have to pay it. If you have already paid the fine, you can ask the CAK to refund the money.
