Applying for voluntary insurance if you are coming to live or work in the Netherlands

Select how you want to apply for voluntary insurance

1. Online via My SVB

   Log in to My SVB. Select ‘Make a claim/application’ and ‘Voluntary insurance (for newcomers to the Netherlands)’. The form will appear on your screen. Unfortunately, the form is only available in Dutch.

2. Fill in, print and send the form

   First, fill in the form on your screen, then print and sign it. Send it to us by post. Our address is stated on the form.

   It will take around 8 weeks for us to send you our decision.

   The date on which we receive your application will be regarded as the date of your application for voluntary insurance.

3. Using a paper application form

   If you prefer to use a paper form to apply for voluntary insurance, you can download and print the ‘Application to buy back voluntary AOW pension insurance’ form. Fill in the form and send it to us by post. Our address is stated on the form.

   It will take around 8 weeks for us to send you our decision.

   The date on which we receive your application will be regarded as the date of your application for voluntary insurance.
