Receiving your Anw survivor benefit outside the Netherlands

If you receive your Anw survivor benefit in a non-Dutch bank account, your benefit may arrive in your account later than if it were paid into a Dutch account. The exact date will depend on the country where you live. It is not possible to choose a different payment date.

  • Payments to a SEPA country are credited to your account on or around the 24th of the month. This does not apply if you live in the UK.
  • Payments to the UK or non-SEPA countries are made at the beginning or halfway through the month.

When our payments are credited to your account depends on your bank. We usually pay Anw survivor benefit in euros, but sometimes we pay it in the currency used in the recipient country.

Costs for transferring payments to bank accounts outside the Netherlands

We send your Anw survivor benefit in euros to Citibank. Citibank then transfers the money to your bank. The transfer costs can be up to €0.48 per payment, depending on the country where you live.

You may have to pay extra costs to your own bank. The amount you have to pay depends on your bank. We have no control over this.

If your monthly Anw survivor benefit is only a small amount, having to pay costs every month can be a problem. If so, it is better to have your Anw survivor benefit paid per quarter or per year. Please contact us about this.

It is not possible for us to pay your Anw survivor benefit in a one-off lump-sum payment.

See exchange rates

The exchange rates used by our banks are shown in the table on this page. There are 2 payment dates each month:

  • at the beginning of the month
  • halfway through the month

If you receive your Anw survivor benefit around the 28th of the month, for example, you should check the list for payments made on the 15th of the month.

If the country where you live is not on the list, it means we pay your Anw survivor benefit in euros.
