If you want to stop your voluntary insurance
If you do not want to continue your voluntary insurance, you can ask us to cancel it. Here, you can read about the consequences of stopping the insurance and what to do if you still wish to cancel it.
If you stop your voluntary insurance, you cannot change your mind later and take out voluntary insurance for this period again. The AOW pension you get when you reach your AOW pension age will be lower than otherwise, and your partner and children will not be able to get an Anw survivor benefit or orphan’s benefit in the event of your death.
If you want to stop your insurance, please let us know as soon as possible. You can do this via My SVB.
If you cannot log in, you should fill in the contact form.
The insurance will stop no later than 2 months after you ask us to cancel it. The insurance always stops on the 1st day of the month.
Examples
- If you ask us to cancel your voluntary insurance on 28 September, the insurance will stop as from 1 November
- If you ask us to cancel your voluntary insurance on 1 October, the insurance will stop as from 1 December
- If you ask us to cancel your voluntary insurance on 7 October, the insurance will stop as from 1 December
If you cancel your voluntary insurance, we will calculate the final contribution you owe for the current year. The final contribution depends on your income. You should therefore report your income to us so that we can calculate the amount you still owe. That way, you will not pay too much.
