The amount of AIO supplement you can get depends on your situation. For example, if you live alone, or if you live with another adult. Or if you share a house with 2 or more other people.
We also look at your income and assets. If you have a partner, we look at their income and assets as well.
Choose the option that best describes your situation
You will get an AIO supplement at the rate for a person who lives alone.
If you start living alone but you still have a partner (for example, if your partner is in a nursing home, or if you and your partner have separated), this can affect the amount of AIO supplement you can receive.
If you live with another person, you will normally get an AIO supplement at the rate for a person who lives with another adult.
But it is possible that you will receive a different rate of AIO supplement. For example if the other person is renting a room to or from you, or if the other person can be regarded as your co-resident.
If you live with 2 or more other adults, we will look to see whether you:
- have a shared household with these people, or
- live with 1 or more co-residents.
